Getting Detroit to move would be the big win, Boone's idea of the plan coming "from the top down". Ultimately it will but in the mean time there are lots of earth-friendly people who'd like to do their part. Push all the buttons you can but if you want something to respond in a timely fashion go local: city ,county, state.

We have been in talks with Detroit for months, things are beginning to happen, stay tuned.

This IS an interesting and new event in Florida which is why it's so important. We need to discover more of the ongoing alternative projects currently in place throughout the country. Chandrashekar has some experience in MD. There are plenty of other local or at least not national programs. In CA at least one waste station that makes the trucks burn CNG or pay heavy fees. They also have toll free and limited accesds highway lanes for alternative vehicles.Plenty of interest even before we get to the trump card, PRICE. Welcome this one to FL in a big way!

This is an interesting event perhaps for Florida. In MD the buses run on natural gas and many local mid-size vehicles are gasoline/electric hybrids and public transportation in the Northeast is better than in the rest of the country. Further MD has more CNG filling stations than in most other states.

The energy behind the event is commendable but perhaps Dallas would be well advised to talk to Detroit and the Obama administration's auto committee to retool some GM and Ford cars for natural gas and/or CNG/electric hybrids to compete with Honda (the NGV Boone drove in D.C and the one featured on my PP page) and Toyota.
