For the Pickens Plan Team,
On April 22th at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA we will be hosting an Earth Day event which is open to the public. As a 2-yr college to 33,000+ students, as well as being a Hispanic Learning Institution (HSI), this is an opportunity to take advantage of the exposure for our Pickens Plan efforts. Tables, chairs and location will be provided and secured for us. I do recommend bringing canopies for shade, but they're not required. For further information, don't hesitate to contact me.

Enthusiastically,
Armando Telles

A Call to Begin the Remaking of America

Hello to all California Members of the Army in CA-49:

I was very moved this past Tuesday when President Obama gave his motivating inaugural speech. He challenged America with these words:

"Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again the work of remaking America"

I thought about how Boone at age 80 already started the Pickens Plan movement this past summer and the Army was almost 1.4 million strong and ready to take action.

How this was time to implement the words our our new President and every person in our country must leave the "comfort zone" and the Army would lead to change the course this country is headed.

We have finally received our 1st Call to Action (CtA-1) and NOW every member must show the resolve determination that We have in backing Boone and make the Pickens Plan a reality that will lead our country away from foreign oil dependence.

The challenge is in front of us.... Take action.... call your elected leaders and ask them to support the Pickens Plan that's in the Stimulus Plan.

Imagine the impact 1.4 Army members will have in our desire to turn this mess around.

Please make sure your voice is heard and counted, so that our country will begin the remaking of America with the Army and Pickens Plan leading the way.

Finally, Ask yourself are you doing your part...being pro-active, providing leadership...demonstrating that you are willing and able to contribute to the cause.

The Army need you!

Thank-you for your support,
Jim McCue

Hello again CA-49,

Here is a 200 word Letter to the Editor (LTE) that I submitted today online to the Idaho Statesman that you could use to jump start your LTE campaign.

I believe LTE's are a great way to spread the word about the Pickens Plan and recruit new members.

Let's move the PP front & center!

p.s. Don't forget to swap out Idaho with California

==========================================================

President Obama has called on Americans to serve in a new era of responsibility. In his inaugural speech he has challenged the country to unite and rework America in solving the many problems our country faces.

His challenge can be felt with his words: "Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met."

We can support our President and join his www.whitehouse.gov and become an active member. This is a great opportunity to belong to the online grassroots movement that can unite us in changing America.

Here in Idaho, we can participate in another national online grassroots movement with local strength that is calling for an end to our counties dependence on foreign oil and begin using American solutions to secure our national security, convert to a green economy and end global warming.

Join our local Idaho districts and become active in The Pickens Plan which calls for a National Energy Policy within 100 days of the new term.

I would like to extend a challenge!

There has been some great activity in our region with regard to letter to the editor and op-ed writing. Letters to the editor/op-eds have been published by Richard Wickberg (WA-05), Larry Sigurdson (OR-05), Phil Carver (OR-05) - upcoming article in a Feb. publication, John Cogar (OR-02), Jerry McDonald (MT-01), Ryan Jones (ID-02) - featured in an article locally and in the Wall Street Journal, Jim McCue (ID-01), and Gary Walker (CA-19). Way to go!

Several other district leaders have submitted letters to the editor. We're just waiting for them to be published. Another big thanks goes out to Grant Schott (OR-04) and Karen Ferguson (WA-03) for submitting letters to the editor.

I sure hope I didn't miss your letter. If so, please let me know ASAP!

CALL TO ACTION - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AND OP-EDS

Let's be the first region of Pickens Plan district leaders to get a letter to the editor or op-ed published in EVERY district!

So far, we have LTE/op-ed published in 7 of 39 districts. With a little push, I am confident we can get a letter to the editor (or more) published in EVERY district in the next week.

If you have not yet submitted a letter to the editor or an op-ed, I am asking for your help. Attached to this email are some guidelines and suggestions for letters to the editor and op-eds. Writing a letter to the editor or op-ed is a simple task with a big pay-off. A letter that takes 10-20 minutes to write can be viewed by thousands of potential Pickens Plan supporters when published. I am more than happy to help edit/review letters if you would like.

In your letter, be sure to include a link to the push.pickensplan.com site and even a link to your district group.

When you submit a letter, please let me know:

where it was submitted

send a copy of the text
When you get a letter to the editor published, please let me know:

publication date
link to online copy (if available)
send a copy of the text (if you haven't sent it already)
Also, this is a great challenge to post on your district groups. Let's see how many letters we can get published!

Thanks again,
Micah

We're finally here! The new Administration and Congress have been sworn in. Legislation is perking up everywhere. We will soon have legislation promoting the Pickens Plan. We have been working the past seven months for this - the next 100 days!

We need everyone's help.

If you haven't already, please host a meeting among the District group to see how your district can keep moving the Pickens Army forward.

Please continue to recruit new Members. Members have found success (and new acquaintances) by setting up a table in front of a store such as Wal-Mart or at a local park.

Write an op-ed or letter-to-the-editor to your hometown newspaper. Send that op-ed or letter to ALL the papers in your district.

Send a note to your Member of Congress that you want them to support the Pickens Plan when it becomes legislation.

And please report what you have done. A weekly report gets sent to Boone with figures such as how many op-eds and letters to the editor have been submitted, published, meetings held, etc. He follows our district activities every week.

We need a District Leader. Please let me know if you are interested.

In both a campus and North County-wide effort, Mission Federal Credit Union has sponsored Palomar College in both environmentally friendly and energy sustainability efforts through the Mission 2B Clean & Green @ Palomar Campaign. With the continual effort to enhance the sustainability as an environmentally-friendly and functional institution, the Mission 2B Clean & Green @ Palomar Campaign strives to increase the participation and involvement of everyone whom values the environmental and economic state at Palomar College. Community Colleges are faced with pending federal and state funding cutbacks. Nationally, the efforts to secure the reduction of our energy use and recyclable waste will contribute to the sustainability of the financial demands of Palomar College. We must maintain and improve our facilities, support individual departments, and assist with faculty and staff funding. Meanwhile, as the practice of ‘green ideas’ are developed on our campus to secure the future of our energy and recycling efficiency, ‘green jobs’ and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.) “certified” rated buildings can potentially be designed, and funded for the current rebuilding and development of Palomar College. We have called upon our students in this Mission 2B Clean and Green @ Palomar Campaign to support all of our environmental efforts. Our future rewards are endless...

If you would like more information and are interested in how to contribute to the efforts being made at Palomar College, please send your inquiry to: mission_2b_cleanandgreen@yahoo.com.

With gratitude,
Armando Telles

I encourage you to attend the San Diego International Auto Show, December 31 - January 4.

Ask the manufacturers when they are going to bring CNG cars to the American market. Given the current situation with the auto manufacturers, this is a great time to ask the question.
