I am living in Lubbock, Tx. I believe the timing is just right to pressure our elected officials to work in our best intrest for change. Geting solar panels or a small wind turbine should not be so expensive or dificult. There are still many laws in the way. Zone, permits and taxation just to name a few. We need to make it as easy as buying lawn furniture or washer or dryer. Help me make this happen. Together we can .Heres a few links to help you.

If the Pickens plan (which I support) supported a National Energy Lottery (see blog below) proposal and the 4 million followers donated 5 bucks a week for this Energy Raffle, there would be 800 winners a week or 41,600 winners a year of a $25,000 voucher good only for Renewable products, ie; solar, wind, hybrid, energy green appliances, etc...and be fully transferrable as well. Take advantage of the Fed's energy credit and it would buy around $32,000 worth of Green product/s.

If the Pickens Plan ran this program and retained 10% for operations, not only would it generate further income for the cause but the donators would have some fun with the potential of winning this voucher and 25,000 to 1 odds. Better than a money lottery that doesn't promote going green.

At $20,000,000 a week @ 10%, that's $2,000,000 for the Pickens Plan for operations. Would certainly be enough for expanding the mission. That's over a Billion for the year! Maybe take that money and invest in a windmill anufacturing company that is owned by the workers. Spread the prosperity and have it Made in USA by the owners/workers. see entire plan at: http://nationalenergylottery.blogspot.com/
Also an inventor who has developed a prototye called Road Power. Will convert downhill vehicle traffic 24/7/365 to electricity alongside the highways of America. No Sun, Wind, Water, Land required. One unit will power approximately 3 homes per year. Looking for Angel Investors to take to next level. Would be a great asset to the Pickens Plan to get us off foreign oil even faster. Thank you, Gary

I am attending grad school in Savannah, GA, but I am from originally from Oklahoma. Yes, the wind is blowing and so is the possibility to reconnect people for a better quality of life. My background is in industrial design and I am currently working on my strategic thinking thesis. My focus is on creating the diffusion of wind energy. I am taking a multiple lenses approach so that I can understand all of the actors and connections that are seen and unseen. This is a social issue on a grand scale, but I have yet to find anyone that is attacking it on this level. I just returned from Oklahoma where I conducted some of my research. As Bill McDonough says, "Nature isn't efficient, it's abundant," and this is how I will look small wind... Small wind is more efficient in its abundance.

Hi Alex,

We MUST speak out as "The Voice of the People".

When we do not be iresponsible, and become silent, then We as a democracy have failed in our duty to assure a Government, "By the People".

Government has failed to enforce the laws, so we had better enforce the laws against all the criminals, who have only personal greed on their mind.

Pickens Plan "attitude" means that we as Americans should "buy American", instead of buying foriegn, and "stoping the importation of oil or oil products" is a good place to start.

Our "balance of payments" is horrible!!

I really think that our "educated elite" are asleep!! What a shame and what a sham.

Let's stop this inferior attitude of "American made stuff is junky". This tells me that the American people are junky!! Buy American.....The job you save may be your own.

AB 560 needs to pass:
Assembly Bill 560 would increase the cap on "net metering," which gives solar customers credit on their electric bill for surplus power they transfer to the utility. Currently, a utility is not obligated to sign net-metering contracts once solar power equals 2.5 percent of its peak electricity demand, a level PG&E is approaching. AB 560 would quadruple that cap, to 10 percent.

Please spread the word and take action by calling your Representative - requesting the bill be passed. Thanks!

I believe the projected 22% of US electricity generation by 2030 can be accelerated and also increased through the diffusion of small wind. The major problems with monumental-scale wind are: capital, manufacturing, logistics, the grid. My current research is focused on alternatives to monumental-scale wind which will help the US reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Monumental-scale wind can not get us there on its own. Yes, there are many elements that effect the diffusion of wind, but this is where I have started.
Cheers,

Hi Albert,

My previous message vanished, so I will try again.

Yes, we must stop importing foriegn oil. It is worse than hemmoraging our life blood, and our economic strength, needlessly.

If you read, "How God Can Change Your Brain", you would understand the function of the "anterior cingulate", and why intellegent people can do crazy stuff, like what Bernard Madeoff does.

America is headed for extinction like that the Inca's. The Greeks and the Romans, because our brain works like that of a frog cooking in boiling water.
The frog is cooked because he cannot sense the danger of being cooked.

WE are in deep doo-doo folks, and we had better get serious about our economic situation, and the "oil crisis".

I keep envisioning the whole system with a Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) for renewables raising the cost of all energy for consumers. As much as I know a FiT would benefit my company S&T, I have a philosophical difficulty supporting the tariffs. Can you help me to overcome this mental hurdle?

The Light is Green!
Clyde Childers Comment by Clyde Childers on May 18, 2009 at 7:13pm
I submit there are two action we need to take: One is to have Congress pass a RSP bill that will start down the road towards energy independant and other in the states is to enacting feed-in tariffs. Tax break don't build wealth or put our people to work. All tax breaks give are potholes in your streets. You must build a market for your products, feed-in tariffs does that. Would you like to earn $250,000 by selling wind energy into the grid or solar from your backyard by installing a 1 MW machine. You could you know! see http://www.buildamericabuild.com

In God We Trust - More Than A Motto?

In God We Trust: The Motto
One of the first found references of the motto “In God We Trust” is heard in the U.S. National Anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner. The song was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 and later adopted as the national anthem. In the last stanza Key writes a variation of the phrase: “...And this be our motto: In God is our trust. And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave, O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” The words were shortened to In God We Trust and first applied to U.S. coins in 1864.

In God We Trust: The History
The U. S. Department of Treasury states “the motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins.

From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania. As a result, Secretary Chase instructed James Pollock, Director of the Mint at Philadelphia, to prepare a motto, in a letter dated November 20, 1861:

Dear Sir: No nation can be strong except in the strength of God, or safe except in His defense. The trust of our people in God should be declared on our national coins. You will cause a device to be prepared without unnecessary delay with a motto expressing in the fewest and tersest words possible this national recognition. It was found that the Act of Congress dated January 18, 1837, prescribed the mottoes and devices that should be placed upon the coins of the United States.”

Pollock suggested "Our Trust Is In God," "Our God And Our Country," "God And Our Country," and "God Our Trust." Chase picked "In God We Trust" to be used on some of the government's coins. The first time "In God We Trust" appeared on our coins was in 1864 on the new two cent coin, and by 1909 it was included on most the other coins. During the height of the cold war, on July 11, 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed Public Law 140 making it mandatory that all coinage and paper currency display the motto.

In God We Trust: The Foundation
American history demonstrates repeatedly that the nation was founded on Christian principles and its founding fathers wished to acknowledge that fact all over Washington D.C. buildings, in official documents, and historical speeches. Less than a hundred years after its Declaration of Independence, In God We Trust was proclaimed on its coins. America is a free nation, and freedom of religion is still guaranteed in the Constitution’s First Amendment.

President Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time" and asked ‘Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are of God?’"

The Bible says:

"It is better to trust the LORD than to put confidence in man" (Psalm 118:8).
"He has put a new song in my mouth, praise unto our God; many shall see it, and fear and will trust in the LORD" (Psalm 40:3, NKJV).

"It is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works" (Psalm 73:28 NKJV).

"The fear of man brings a snare: but whoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25 NKJV).
