Just a Happy Bunny moment...

Honestly, what I really appreciate about the Pickens Plan, is that we can work together most of the time in a non-partisan manner to try to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. We may have our differences in political philosophies, but if we are working towards a common goal, we stand a better chance of accomplishing something beneficial to all Americans.

Now what can we do to get Congress and the White House to start developing a comprehensive plan for American Energy Independence?!?

Great program today as John Nobles and I welcomed our Maryland State Leader, Chandrashekar, to The Green Revolution Show

Listen to the podcast and hear Chandra suggests we give "green candy" out to Clean Energy Providers on this, National Candy Day!

Hi All,

The Newark Advocate printed a letter to the editor submitted from PickensPlan's Ohio Leader (Veronica Gold) and cosigned by myself thanking our US Rep. Pat Tiberi for his support of the Nat Gas Act of 2009.

See the editorial at http://unhub.com/w7fB

My mom will be so proud!

If you haven't done so please support the Nat Gas Act of 2009 and contact your Congressional Leadership at http://unhub.com/WrBS. Just fill in the form - PickensPlan does the work!

Okay - not my most brilliant moment. In the middle of my 6 mile run tonight I realized it was Beggar's Night in Johnstown, OH. All the businesses in "downtown" were open passing out candy, families were out with their kids and people where milling about. It dawned on me what a great opportunity I was missing to recruit members for the PickensPlan movement on the Nat Gas Act of 2009.

Won't make that mistake again!

Boone sent this out, if we all did this it would help get the Nat Gas Act passed!!
Thanks,
Dave
check it out:

"There’s a new Natural Gas Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives which is headed by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) and Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK). The more than 40 bi-partisan members of the caucus held a major hearing on Capitol Hill. The Natural Gas Caucus talked about how the development of America’s natural gas resources will help set America on a path to energy independence and create millions of new jobs. It was a great event and an important message to get out there.
But here’s the really important part.
We’ve got just under 100 cosponsors of the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835) in the House—and that’s great—but I think we can educate more Members of Congress, build on that support and do a lot more.
Email your Member of Congress and ask them to become a cosponsor of the NAT GAS Act.
I think we can get at least another 20+ cosponsors in the coming weeks so I’m calling on every member of the Army to reach out to their Member of Congress right now so that we can get to at least 120 sponsors by November 20th. I’m calling it 120 by 11-20.""

Billions Of Federal Dollars Flowing Toward The Smart Grid
Renew Grid Magazine
by Michael Bates on Wednesday 28 October 2009

Yesterday, President Obama announced that 100 organizations have been earmarked to receive $3.4 billion in federal American Reinvestment and Recovery Act grants aimed toward modernizing the U.S. energy grid.

The Smart Grid Investment Grant winners, all of whom will at least match the federal funds they receive, were chosen from a large applicant pool that began building months ago. Estimates suggest that the total public-private investment will exceed $8 billion. Grant amounts range from less than $1 million to $200 million.

The grants will be made available to utilities, manufacturers, municipalities and other stakeholders in 49 states. Projects that will receive federal funding address a number of emerging utility technologies and strategies, from smart metering and grid automation to demand response and renewables integration. The Department of Energy says grant recipients can expect site visits from administration officials in the coming days and months.

President Obama pledges $467M to accelerate geothermal and solar. Newly promised funding will help deal with technical barriers, demonstrate new technologies, and support clean energy jobs. The critical areas sharing the geothermal funding are: demonstration projects ($140 million), R&D for Enhanced Geothermal Systems ($80 million), innovative exploration techniques ($100 million), and a National Geothermal Data System Resource Assessment and Classification System ($30 million). Solar funding is allocated for: photovoltaic technology development ($51.5 million), solar energy deployment ($40.5 million), and concentrating solar power R&D ($25.6 million). “We have a choice. We can remain the world's leading importer of oil, or we can become the world's leading exporter of clean energy," President Obama said during the announcement.

Quick Take: The solar industry was hit hard by the economic meltdown, and this is the kind of recharge it was hoping for.
