Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?: Yes

Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:: I've been following this for years. Members of my family are ahead of me: my brother has solar pre-heat and power (co-generation) in Corvallis, OR and my sister has solar hot water in Hawaii. I am evaluating a combo of wind and solar for my forest home. I ride an electric bike. and have wood heat backup for my home which I converted to gas from electricity in the late 90's. I am ready to do more.

What excites you about this campaign?: Everything. I am an old hippy chick who has been using my conservation ways in this consuming world since the 60's. You would not know it to look at me. I "pass".

What do you want to do to help?: Whatever is needed.

Letter to DeFazio

Today I noticed my congressman was not a sponsor of the Natural Gas Act, so here is my e-mail to him (Representative DeFazio).

As a long time friend of clean energy, I encourage you to become a co-sponsor of HR 1835, the Pickens Plan inspired Natural Gas Act.

I know it doesn't solve all our problems, but it does put the right American resource to work on the right job at the right time. Even Pickens thinks this is transitional strategy, but the technology and fuel supply is sitting in a box on… Continue

Brilliant! If there are legs to this energy independence stool we are building, education has to be one of them. An inclusive, empowering approach to conservation (the science, math, and practice) can all be fun and challenging. What we don't need to do is scare anyone or be "smarter" than doubters. No Green Bullies. Just a future generation of well informed and educated kids who will come up with the next wave of great ideas. Let's go!

Jeanene...THANK YOU! Jim and I are barely able to believe we just started this group yesterday. We're overwhelmed by the support and comments and messages to our mail box, etc. We appreciate all of it...and your comment even further compels our belief in the power of the current momentum for change in this crucial area of our lives and those of our grandchildrens grandchildren.

Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a renewable energy, RE, savings bond to support a project and save money at the same time for themselves. The plan is to have a minimum of categories for S-Solar, W-Wind, C-COOP. A purchaser would get on the US Treasury web site and purchase one that is for a project that he/she would like to support via credit card or PAYPAL. A different tab would allow tracking of the projects and transparency in accounting as President Obama has promised we will have in his administration. I've faxed and emailed my representative in Congress already and have a copy of a FAX sent to Nancy Pelosi on my Pickens blog along with more details. On my web page is a link for a new group that was started today called “Energy Independence US Treasury Savings Bonds” Please do not hesitate joining the “my friends” on my PickensPlan web page as well if you like this Energy Independence plan.
