Nabil Eid
Who has a successful record of accomplishment and experience in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for development rural community.
He served at the National ICT Training Strategy for Syria, under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Technology in Syria and the UNDP / -Syria Office (2004). This included the launch of many Telecentres and ICT programs, such as Rural Knowledge Network “Reefnet project ", Rural Mobile Computer Training (E-BAG), its impact on scientific and socio-economic development.
Nabil contributed in many national, regional, global initiatives. and currently works at Salamieh Telecentre Director. He is assisting the Reefnet project in launching in new initiatives such as writing the project document Rational, proposals, budgets, plan and …etc. He is also chairman of Studies Centre for Handicapped Research (SCHR) organization to help and development all the persons with disabilities to use ICT.
Mr. Eid is also responsible for developing rural communities in Middle East and North Africa (TC-MENA) region and participates in Eastern Africa telecentres movement.
Nabil holds a Master degree in engineering from University of Aleppo, Syria. In addition, holds a depth studies in Information and Communication Technology and computer systems. In addition, he is author to many books & articles and programs in ICT4D PWD.
Mr. Eid holds several training and workshops certificates from different organization such as UNDP, ESCWA, Telecentre.org, universities, NGOs and Institutes such as Leadership community development certificate.

What excites you about this campaign?

Opportunities for connecting Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) through ICT.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have the potential for making significant improvements in the lives of (PWDs). And ICT has been identified as an important aspect of the wider strategy for the social inclusion of disabled people.

What do you want to do to help?

The use (ICTs) in the field of disabled is very high on the political agendas of countries and we are required a lots of efforts at national, regional and global level to address the special requirements of persons with disabilities, using appropriate educational, administrative and legislative measures to ensure their full inclusion.
We need to be taken to move into the information society and the central role played by education in making the information society a reality is clearly highlighted.
ICTs opens up great opportunities to improve the quality of persons life with disabilities and promote to enhance teaching, skills, learning in special needs education and explore the following issues relating and it will also explore how ICTs enriches the learning opportunities and potential of people who have disabilities, especially in the following areas (Physical, Blind and Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Down syndrome and Learning Disabilities).
